Henrik Ahlers is Country Manager Partner Germany. He was GSA Tax Leader from 2018 until 2021. 

Henrik is a qualified lawyer (Rechtsanwalt) and certified tax advisor (Steuerberater) and has brought experience as a Transaction Tax Partner. Before he joined EY in 2000, Henrik worked as a lawyer for four years in the Audit Services of PWC. 

Henrik’s 25 years of experience encompasses support of clients concerning tax and legal group structuring and acquisition as well as current legal and tax advice of clients of different sizes and legal structures.

His primary focus lies in transaction tax advisory, including buy and sell-side tax due diligence projects, tax advice concerning acquisitions and reorganizations for multinational groups and family businesses.

Due to his experience and ability to effectively liaise with and manage international teams, he acts as Global Tax Account Leader for Volkswagen AG since 2005. In addition, as a member of the EY Global Automotive Network, he has a professional focus on the automotive industry. 

Based on his local relationships, he was able to form a regular meeting circle with the most prominent and globally operating companies headquartered in Lower Saxony. He brings together the Tax Leaders not only to strengthen the business relationships and to present our expertise and teams regularly but also to learn about their topics, worries, and requirements. 

In addition to his operational work, he always enjoyed regularly participate as a lecturer in internal and external events and workshops for clients. Furthermore, he has been a lecturer at the University of Osnabrück for the “Master in Taxation” and Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universität Hannover.
